General Information On Twynsta

Twynsta is a drug used for treating and managing hypertension or high blood pressure. It is a combination of two drugs, the generic names of which are Telmisartan and Amlodipine. These belong to the category of di-hypropyridine calcium channel blockers and angiotensin-II receptor blockers. You can buy Twynsta in the form of oral tablets. It works by blocking calcium-ion induced contractile effects on the patient’s muscles, resulting in producing an anti-hypertensive effect.

Side Effects for Twynsta

Twynsta patients may generally experience dizziness, mood changes, headache, back pain, stuffy nose, diarrhea, sore throat, and changes in bowel movement patterns. These are initial side effects and can be easily managed. However, if any of these become intolerable, you should immediately contact your doctor and inform him/her about your symptoms. Twynsta can, in rare instances, also cause shortness of breath, muscle weakness, weak pulse, slow heart rate, tingly feeling, stopped urination, jaundice, chest pain and pain spreading from the chest to shoulders or arms. If you experience any of these, you should immediately seek medical help, as they may be signs of some serious medical complication. Sometimes, Twynsta can also lead to the breakdown of skeletal muscle tissue, resulting in kidney failure. You should look out for symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, fever, dark colored urine, or muscle tenderness, weakness, or pain.

If you develop difficulty in breathing, swollen face, tongue, throat or lips, hives and rashes, you are allergic to Telmisartan or Amlodipine. You should immediately stop taking the tablets and seek medical attention.

Precautions

Your doctor will not recommend you to buy Twynsta if you have an allergy to any of the drug’s ingredients. You should tell your doctor if you have kidney disease, liver disease, or if you have been on dialysis. Special tests will be needed if you have low blood pressure, electrolyte imbalance , congestive heart failure or coronary artery disease, diarrhea, nausea, or if you recently suffered from a heart attack. This medicine can cause fatal injury to the unborn child, and therefore, it should not be given to a pregnant woman, especially during the 2nd or 3rd trimester. You should stop taking Twynsta if you have been tested positive for pregnancy during the course of treatment. Consult your doctor if you are breastfeeding, as the safety of Twynsta during this time is not yet established.

Twynsta Dosage

The recommended dose of the drug is Twynsta 80/10mg once a day. After 2 weeks, the dosage may be increased, depending on the patient’s response to treatment. This is because the effects of most anti-hypertensive medicines are seen only after 2 weeks of starting the treatment.

Interactions

If you are taking Twynsta, you should not take any other medicines that lower your blood pressure. Other medicines that may interact adversely with Twynsta include lithium, ramipril, digoxin and diuretics. Apart from these, you should inform your doctor about all the medicines you are taking at present, including health supplements, herbal products and topical applications.
